Moments Shared Last Forever

A Day at the #%@! Beach!

I took this picture the other day.

The day our arena was completed, with the addition of cinder sand!

I had some quirky idea for a post... Something about"A Country Girls Beach" A cute and funny little story about living in the country, riding horses, kids running through sprinklers, and the pleasure it brings! Yes, it was to be a hit! Well that all changed this morning around 5:30 am!

It started off ok, alarm goes off at 5 am, Cowboy rolls over and kisses me on the forehead. "I'll take Squirrel to practice". "Mmmmm! I'll wait here for you" The bed was so comfortable this morning. The smell of last nights rain was carried through the window on a slight breeze. With the birds happiliy chirping, and way off "yonder" (sorry I was caught in the moment! lol!) there was the occasional sound of cows. Oh! I love living here! I am truly fortunate! As I laid there thinking how lucky I was. Married to a wonderful man, with healthy children, free to do whatever I wanted.

I thought I would get an early start on my watering. I got up, and went outside, barefoot. (I am always barefoot) It's a small detail that I normally wouldn't bother mentioning, but it plays an important part in my story! So there I was walking though the grass in our orchard, what a beautiful day! Picked up one of the sprinklers, and looked up to see "Tinkerbell" (our little donkey) tangled in between two fence posts. So I walked over to untangle her. She was nibbling my back as I was "unbraiding" the rope she had so carefully (through the night) wrapped around the posts! As I turned to get back to my watering, I stubed my little toe on a tree( large sucker) that we cut last year!

Oh my gosh! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! I knew instantly I broke it! Holy Crapola! It nearly brought tears to my eyes!! Here I am, nearly doubled over with pain thinking, now I have to walk back to the house! Maybe I could jump on Tink? No bad idea! I would end up with more than a broken toe! So, I hobbled back to my house and climbed back into bed, stopping only at the freezer to get a frozen bag of corn. As I lay there thinking I should've stayed in bed, My fella came in, "are you gonna get up?" No I am going to stay in bed! I have had a terrible 20 min morning! I broke my little toe!" Concern crossed his face, "How?, are you ok? I'm sorry baby!" He would've let me stay in bed the rest of the day, had I wanted to. Yes, I am laying here in bed knowing how lucky I am, to be married to this man! Who will later go and "kill" the trunk that broke his wifes toe! I will make sure of it! Will I wear shoes next time I walk outside...

Of Course NOT! My FOOT won't fit!!

Girl - you are married to a lover arnt you!! LOL Mine would have said "Really, let me see?' Like an idiot I would show him, he would procede to grab it and ask me if it still hurts..... THEN - only after torturing me - would he be concerned. After that moment passes, he would then say - Got anything to eat?

I laughed so hard when you said you had a donkey named Tinerbell - my first pony was a shetland. I got her when I was 5 and she lived until 6 years ago - she was 42 when she died, anyway - her name was Tinkerbell. Thanks for bringing back some great memories for me this morning!!! Hope your toes is better soon!!!

First off, you are an amazing artist and photographer! Wow!
Secondly, there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING that hurts as bad as stubbing a toe! I would have stayed in bed all day as well!

Ouchie!!!
Beautiful pics again. I always love to visit your blog for the beauty and wit and funnies. This was not funny.

When I lived in Huntington Beach CA, I never ever wore shoes except to go to work. Here I can't walk outside except along the flagstone, then it is with great carefulness. Being barefoot I miss the most (oh and the 5 kids I left back there too... LOL)
happy horsin' around!
